A Sunburst. That is what the logo for The Intentional Project is. But it is more than that. There are several layers or meanings behind it.
I want my life to be a life that radiates light. I want to be someone who makes the world a bit better and a bit brighter. A sunburst as the logo represents this. Everything is moving from the source, outwards. It is taking what is good and extending it to all who are in its path. We need more good in the world.
Going in all directions.
While the sunburst is radiating light in all directions, the problem is that it is going in all directions. That is what life can feel like at times. Rather than light and goodness being emitted, each ray of the sunburst can be another commitment we have made that we are trying to get to. We feel we are being pulled in every direction and away from our center.
If you look closely at the logo of the sunburst, one ray is different than the others. That is what I hope I accomplish through this “project.” I want to be more intentional about the direction I am going. It means recognizing I cannot do everything but I can do some things, and I can do them well. I want to figure out what needs to be done and do them the best I can and not worry about everything else. In the end, my life might look very similar to my life before or to everyone else’s life, but hopefully there will be some subtle differences. It will be a bit more like the center, that thing that roots us all.
I need to give credit where credit is due. I did not design the logo for The Intentional Project. That came from the generosity of Todd Midtvedt of Coalesce Marketing and Design. He is a wizard with graphics and logos. We went back and forth several times until we got it right. I never felt that Todd was offended if he offered an opinion that I turned down. From the beginning he wanted to make sure that I got what I was looking for. If you are in the need for graphic design, Todd is your man. You can find out more about him and the company at www.coalescemarketing.com.
