We could all use something to look forward to on Monday morning. Therefore, every Monday morning, I am going to share good music. This isn’t going to be something that would be easily found on the radio or by a well known artist. It mostly will be indie or folk artists who write music that means something and helps to articulate feelings that we may not have words for. The music may not necessarily be uplifting, but my hope is that it will always be meaningful.
Cloud Cult – Through the Ages
My favorite line from this song is…
I’m done being stupid and worried and dramatic, so I lay down my every disguise
So if ever I can’t see the magic around me, please take my hands off my eyes.
I think this sums up the purpose of The Intentional Project. Many times I am stupid or I worry which causes me to be more dramatic than I want to be. This happens when I get bogged down in life and do not stop to appreciate what I have, what is going on around me, or most importantly, who I am. I still get choked during this part of the song while listening to it. I hope you find meaning in it as well.
Here is a link to them in concert performing this song. You can’t tell me they would be fantastic to see live.(The lyrics are closed-captioned.)
This link will go directly to their website if you would like to purchase the song on any of their albums. The lyrics are also right there.
Here is a link to an interview the lead singer gave on the podcast “On Being with Krista Tippett.” If you didn’t like them after the song, you will after the podcast. Their son died at 2 years old and writing music has been a major driving force process their grief and feelings.
Last year, they did a film with Josh Radnor, (Ted from “How I Met Your Mother”) titled, “The Seeker.” Here is the trailer for it and I am waiting for it to be available Netflix or stream some other way.
